Rant

One of the most frustrating things in my life is when I go fishing and everyone is catching fish, except me. This happened the other week when my dad and I decided to go fishing. Since fishing is one of my most favourite past times, I was extremely excited. We arrived at the lake and put the boat in the water and began fishing. After half and hour of no success, my dad and I hear splashing across the lake. Two different boats are catching fish continuously so we decide to try over there and fish but the harder we try, the worse it gets because we are fishing literally right next to the other boat's line but for some ridiculous reason, the fish would not take our flys and this really aggravates me because I love fishing so much and to see everyone but my dad and I catching beautiful rainbows the size of footballs makes me want to just whip out my shot gun and blow the heads of every annoying fish that jumps right beside our boat to tease us just to make me feel better because at least you could bring home a head of a fish for dinner and it would look like you caught something.

The top three places to take the ladies for the first date and how to pull them off.

1.) Coffee shop
Nothing says I really like you like a nice full cup of Folgers. A sandwich on the side and perhaps a scrumptious donut really sets the mood. The advantage of a coffee shop is even after you are done sipping your tea, you are welcome to stay there and just talk. The ladies always love a guy who is social, especially if he has a sense of humour.
2.) Dinner and a movie
Although a bit more risky and time consuming, gentleman this can be "money in the bank". Choose a quality restaurant, no Wendy's or McDonald's for your outing. Remember ladies first meaning hold the door open, always let her order first, and most importantly, you pay the bill. If she makes even the slightest attempt to open her wallet, down right refuse. The ladies always love a man who is generous, and knows where his manners are. In terms of a movie, never go to the Pen Mar as this run down theatre will destroy the mood. Try picking up a movie and heading back to your place. Comedies are a good start, or perhaps a chick flick. Horror or documentaries are boring. If in doubt, let her get it. It shows you trust her. That's always a good thing. On the first date, the main floor of your house should be sufficient. Ask her if she would like anything such as a drink and sit back and relax.
3.) Walk on the beach
If you set up a date in a spring or summer evening, try a walk on the beach. Remember, no socks and sandals. Volunteer to pick her up and remember your sunglasses. The reason the beach is such a good place to go is because you can walk for as long as you want and there is no cut off. If feeling adventurous, guys whip of that muscle shirt and show your beach season abdominals. Another advantage of the beach is that you can do more that just walk. You could pick up a ice cream, perhaps the Popsicles that split in two. Or better yet, both get something different and try each others. You can quickly find out if you have similar ice cream favourites.
P.S. This is just for fun, don't take this seriously.
P.P.S. I know this sounds like it was written by a girl so don't judge me.

Novel Journal #1

"For a brief insane moment, I was glad about whatever had happened that night." Page 39

So far in the novel, "The Kite Runner", Amir has been undergoing a constant struggle with himself about acceptance from his father. Baba always imagined that Amir would be just like him when he was a kid: playing soccer, getting into scraps, being strong, and standing up for himself. Baba consults Rahim Kahn about his concern for Amir and Rahim assures him he is fine. But to Baba, this isn't what he wanted. The only way Baba knows Amir is his son is because he witnessed the delivery. Once Amir has heard this, everything changes.

In this novel, you can definitely make the connection of paternal bonding. Throughout my life, it has always been significant to me to have a solid foundation with my parents. To be in their "good books" has many benefits but the largest of them would be pride. Pride is a double edged sword meaning I want my parents to be proud but I also want to be proud of myself and of my actions. However, the father-son bond is much stronger than a mother-son relation for one reason only; we have simliar intersts. Going into the woods and going fishing for example is one of my favourite past times and so is his. My dad and I not only enjoy similar outdoor activites but we also enjoy the same genre of music where as my mother and I do not. It is much easier to have a strong bond with people that have similar interests rather than people that are like "oil and water" in comparision.

Review

When I turn on the radio in the morning and hear the music of today's top artists, it really is depressing to hear how simple the music is and how the general public likes it. This music is so degrading that it would easily make Beethoven roll over in his grave. In terms of the guitarist, they play simple riffs repeated over and over. For drums, I could honestly teach ANYONE the drumbeat to the "Sweet Escape" by Gwen Stefani for example in approximately three and half minutes. If you look at the rap industry, the amount of teenagers that enjoy this genre is substantial. This music is simply a synthesizer which produces the "beat" and a rapper. Anyone can rap, end of story. However, I respect this genre because I can not "spit beats" the way 50 Cent can so therefore I respect it. To sum this up as a whole, one statement can me made. Simple music for simple minds. However, this term is often harsh and often offends people therefore I prefer, "Simple music for simple musical minds." Rap is more classified as entertainment than actually music. Some say its poetry, but as a whole, I would say its more insulting ideas or rap icons. For these reasons, music has definitely gone downhill and I hope one day the quality music (which doesn't have to be jazz or classical) will come back and the human race will appreciate music for having depth, meaning, and complexity.

The Perils of Indifference

1.) The problem of carelessness and irresponsibility.
2.) The events in "The Lottery" however shocking are actually related to modern day events. Take profanity for example. I guarantee you that if parents heard their children's "potty mouths", they would be absolutely outraged and appalled. Society today (especially the teenage proportion of society) sees nothing wrong with a little colourful language and you don't have to walk far to hear a few "f" bombs.
3.) "The Lottery" and "the Perils of Indifference" share common ideas in the fact that ignorance is bliss. I know I completely stole this idea from our previous topic but if you think about it, this makes a whole heck of a lot of sense. In "the Lottery", the entire town does not seemed to be bothered by the fact that they stone an innocent person to death annually for no given reason. They thought it was appalling that other towns had abandoned the lottery and that their way of life was superior.Looking at "the Perils of Indifference", the speaker announces the fact that the USA knew about the Holocaust situation and chose to be indifferent and it's a clear given fact that both these stories carried similar meanings of theme. For these reasons, both short stories that have been read and deciphered show that humans only step in to assist if they will be rewarded in some manner. No one wanted to step in to either situation because of that fact of self benefit.

Ignorance is Bliss

When it comes down to your moral rights, I believe that many people try to hide from them. Personally, when I hear about starving kids, I feel terribly sorry for them but personally with my paycheck and university expenses on the rise, I cannot afford to sponsor a child. However, when it comes down to being of assistance in the community, I definitely arise to the occasion. For example, I have participated several times in our community event of 10,000 Tonight which supplies the food bank with plentiful amounts of food until mid July which is very impressive. But, unfortunately the whole world does not work this way. I am not trying to say I am far superior than anyone because that is far from true. I am just saying as a nation, as one unit, as a whole, I feel the world is careless and that every action, every move, revolves around financial benefit. Unless it provides a benefit for a person, their actions will be minimal unless they are forced to. As sad as it is, this is the truth.
P.S. This is a general statement.
P.P.S. There are humans out there that would disagree with my statement .
P.P.P.S. If it wasn't for those people who go above and beyond and destroy the stereotypical actions of a regular person, there would be no hope for those who need it most.

A flaw is necessary for true beauty

Personally, I believe that a personal flaw is necessary for true beauty. However, I prefer some type of personality flaw, not a terrible flaw, but something different that makes the person who they are. But, I am not attracted to girls who obsessed with little details like chipping their nails for example. I prefer something like their laugh or maybe their twisted sense of humor that can make their diversity attractive. Maybe they always forget their pen and you need to loan them one everyday, but, they always give it back to you and you get a special couple minutes to talk to her privately. You see, true beauty is only beautiful if there is something unique about them. If there isn't, all you have is your typical "babe".

Essay Topics

Personally, I enjoy blogging. It lets us express our views in a different environment setting bringing out different opinions and views. Getting to use computers lets us master the art of typing along with the benefits of learning to type properly again, no msn "lingo". In addition, with the additional use of computers, we have access to much researh that will aid in our blogs, giving us new ideas and characteristics. Finally, in terms of blog topics, I prefer topics that have "room to work with" if you will, meaning you can express a view many different ways. I also enjoy writing about outdoor experiences or politics because those fields interest me vastly. Finally, I like random topics that us students can relate to. For example, peach pie is by far the most delicious pie ever made, compare or contrast. In terms of a research topic, maybe we could discuss our views on our Canadian Soliders in Afghanistan or maybe an ongoing debate in the community.

My own Superpower

Imagine the power to be able to visit the past/future. Imagine going back and seeing a T-Rex right up close. Right there in front of your eyes, the biggest animal that you have ever seen. Or being at the scene to see Marie Antionette get decapitated. Yes that would make your stomach revolt, making you spew all over the street, but imagine the power to be able to have seen the first day man walked on the moon, or the last day of man kind before the Sun blows up. You could see every possible day of the Earth's history and truley know everything about everything basically. You would be the most respeceted person on the planet and by far the most wise. I do believe this would be the ultimate superpower because knowledge is power and if you know everything, you have the most power. You would be the ultimate superpower. Imagine.
